I have realised that my farming days are coming to a close.   With five children and nine grand children to entertain I find it necessary to find a new home for my stocks of frozen Salers embryos and semen.   As you can see I have amassed about 3800 straws of semen, and 136 embryos.   The semen is stored at Agrigene in Wangaratta and the embryos at Bass Valley Embryo Centre in Loch Gippsland.

The Saint Dizier Salers Stud commenced operation in 1987 with the purchase of embryos from the Inverary stud of Don Anderson.

Over the years we built up a magnificent herd of Salers Cattle with semen sourced from North America, France and New Zealand.   Females were purchased from leading Victorian studs through the years, including some older girls imported from France.

Cattle were shown at Royal Shows in Adelaide, Sydney, Brisbane, Rockhampton and Melbourne, with a great deal of success.   The desire to breed top quality commercial bulls was my ultimate goal.   Unfortunately with ever encroaching dry seasons in the nineties forced the cattle to be sold.

Remaining stocks of semen and embryos were held in our attempt to preserve the very best our genetics had to offer.   These are now offered for sale to buyers wanting to continue breeding these most magnificent of cattle.

Available as embryos are some from magnificent cows from Rob Martins Mountain Rose Crane purchased in partnership with Forbes Cameron from New Zealand, and flushed to two different French import bulls in Herve and Hugenot.

Embryos from Inverary J333 to French import Gitan, and Ngaio Glen Magnitude would be a stand out.   French import cow Caille 0402 joined to Nardoo Valley Mercury.   Saint Dizier Jumelle J004, Grand Champion Cow at Melbourne Royal 1992, joined to Vain and Nardoo Valley Mercury.

Semen from black and polled imports AP Polled Stoker and AP Polled Covenant, Waldara Park Gendarme, French Import Caid, imported bulls PPS Swain, SSF Blackstone, ElDorado, Vainqueur, GGT Viper JFW 444s Smoothcoat, RJ Royal 543R, Legacy, Princeton 31P, AC International 801X, Vizir, Ngaio Glen Precision are available, plus many more.   The genetics are old but reliable.   A bit like ourselves.
