Hello Members and Friends
It’s that time again when here in the South, spring has sprung. Stock condition is on the improve, show cattle are being finished off and hay crops are nearing harvest. We are getting the odd warm day but still lighting a fire most nights. Rainfall has been dropping off.
A few things of interest to you, firstly, Kathy Gardner is undertaking a new semen sire listing. This is well overdue so I ask you to contact her if you own sires that you want listed in that category. You will need to state B.Mann status, Sire and Dam, DOB and whether you wish to request registration certificates and fees.
We have been working on streamlining the ASA registration system as we are all in agreement that for a small association such as ours there is no need for four registers. The final draft is expected to be ready for the AGM with some minor changes to the Constitution expected.
We have just had a new DL card produced along with stickers to go over the old contact number on the old cards. Anne Ryan at Kiama will hold a stock or you can pick them up at the AGM
A date has now been set for the 2012 AGM, and a mail out notification has been sent. We hope to make the AGM a most interesting and informative occasion for you. This will be the first time that it has been held in South Australia and the Salers breeders in Mount Gambier will make you most welcome. An itinerary for the visit is included and we hope that you will endeavour to take the time to visit. As there will be a Basketball carnival on the same weekend, you will need to prebook accommodation – refer details on the attached itinerary sheet.
New and existing merchandise will be on display at the AGM should anybody wish to place orders. Some older stock will be priced to clear.
We are confident that a magazine will come together early next year so get your cameras snapping. It is expected to be of about 26 pages, advertising costs will be relative to production cost and a price schedule will be included in the Christmas newsletter. Outside advertisers are most welcome to contribute – please consider any local businesses who may potentially be interested in contributions.
I would like to thank Steve Nicolas for his contributions with newsletters but of course Steve is limited by the amount of information that is supplied by members. Give your support and send any news and photos to him. Steve can be contacted on 02 42619113 or at sandsnicholas@bigpond.com Many thanks also to Peter Rogers for his work on the website.
All the best for the spring and until the AGM,
Steve McCourt
