Salers breeders, have once again supported the Wingham Beef Week which ran recently from the 9-14th of May at the Wingham show grounds.
Wingham Beef Week is a community based event with a week long program which aims to provide school students and the general public with a variety of meaningful activities centered around the Beef Industry – Education through Competition.
This year some 350 students took part in the cattle judging and other sections in the week long program of activities which included various talks from specialists in fields relating to Agriculture and Beef production. Then participants had the parading and judging competitions which climaxed with the live auction of the top animals.

Following completion of “On the Hoof” competition the animals were trucked across the road to Wingham Beef Exports for slaughter and assessment of “On the Hook” section. This is one of the few places where you can actually see your animal hung up on the hook which is an amazing learning opportunity for participants and students from schools.
