The Australian Salers AGM for 2020 was an entertaining affair, full of laughter and conversation.

On the 21st of November the Australian Salers Society broke new ground and went virtual with an electronic, telecommunication AGM.  Despite a few teething issues the meeting went off well.  The formal part was had with State reports given and financials discussed.  The Society, with great pleasure awarded long standing member and advocate of Salers, Reginald Mickelburough Life Membership to the Australian Salers Society.  Congratulations Reg and thank you for your commitment to the breed and support you have given to the society and members over the years.  Reg still continues to be a valuable source of information, drawing from his life experiences and time spent within the Salers breed.

REPORTS –

Presidents report – ASA Presidents letter October 2020

South Australia – SA AGM report

The real conversation and laughter started when each state representative presented an electronic state report.  These reports came in an assortment of styles which was great to see.  Each report show cased animals from studs within the state as well as commercial breeders and their cross breeding programs.  As we are not in the position to travel interstate due to Covid – 19  this electronic AGM was a great way to see what other people were doing and what their landscape looks like.

At the end of the meeting the general consensus was that we would all be back next year be that electronically or in person.  Until we see you again the Australian Salers board and members wish for everyone to stay safe and that they are able to take advantage of the prices in the current beef market.
