Cara Park Salers continued to compete locally at four shows (Mil-Lel, Naracoorte, Mt Gambier and Casterton) during the 2019 show season with good results. This years true highlight wasn’t a winning ribbon but a team of energetic and enthusiastic young people who did all the handling and prep work at the shows. I personally only needed to get the cattle to the show and they did the rest. To the point four of the five pictured below ran the team of seven animals by themselves at the Mt. Gambier show.
Their experience and willingness to have a go extended past the breed show ring to various judging competitions held at the local shows.
- At the Mil-Lel show both Rachel and Dakota placed in their handler classes,
- Naracoorte show saw Rachel being awarded Reserve Junior Beef Judge,
- During the Mt Gambier show these teenagers were very busy competing in numerous judging or handling competitions
- In Dairy judging we saw 5 of the 8 competitors coming from Cara Park handlers and one of them placing 3rd
- During the sheep judging Emily was placed 2nd,
- Senior handlers was blitzed by Cara Park handlers— Emily 1st, Rachel 2nd and Cameron 3rd.
- The Junior Beef Judging was also blitzed by Cara Park kids with Emily 1st, Rachel 2nd and Dakota 3rd.
- The skills of these young people continued to shine at the Casterton show where Cameron was placed 1st in the Senior Handlers competition against a large field of competitors.
Well done guys and Thank You!!!
