Cara Park Salers has this show season been able to encourage a number of young cattle handlers by using Cara Park animals in Junior and Senior Cattle Handler Competitions at several shows.
During the Mount Gambier show Emily McKinnon handled a heifer in the Senior Handlers section. She represented herself well against some very experienced handlers and got some valuable tips from the judge for next year.
Earlier in the day Ben Wood competed in the Junior Cattle Handlers Competition for the first time and despite a big case of butterflies won himself 1st place in the Novice Section.
Penola show saw Hannah Thompson win third place in her Senior Cattle Handlers class. The judge telling her “she paraded the heifer in the belief that it was the best out there and looked like she was having the best time of her life”.
Rachel Curtis competed in the Junior Handlers section at the Casterton show and after a tough work out from the judge testing all the competitor’s cattle parading skills she was placed 2nd.
At the Millicent show Cameron Curtis won the Intermediate Handler class and a week later also the Senior Handlers class against very skilled and proficient handlers at the Casterton show.
Well done Emily, Ben, Hannah, Rachel and Cameron on the way you presented yourselves and handled the animals in the Cattle Handler Competitions. The future looks bright for the cattle industry.
